you speaking English

Well, I don't know why.
But my hand got shaken when touching this keyboard.
To write about this.

People might think that this is not an interesting topic to be discussed about.
Cause somehow you've heard for this elsewhere.
But . . .
Thing to know.
I've thinking to talk, write, preach(lol) about this since long time ago.
And the spirit was embedded additionally by watching few videos that I'll put right at the end of this entry.
and this is solely from my heart.
.I am not a copycat.

Last week , I met my English teacher.
"I don't really got enough time for my essay teacher (for mid-year test)."
"So, don't expect for high marks"
Simple.
I don't . I don't really hope for that.
But just hope for an 'A' . Or else . A-

So what I'm gonna touch about is not English.
That language, saxon, the Hobbit, Obama and stuffs.
But.
"speaking English"

what happen nowadays is
we are only able to really listen people speaking English coming from the mouth of :
1. an English teacher
2. the English movies
3. some urban families
4. those with the backgrounds of overseas
5. Anyone you might think so

We've learnt English since kindergarten
until the biggest of you . Now .
Yet you might ask yourself , are you really practising on it?
Yes. yes.
"Do we need to?"

What if I say,
" Oh yeah, you need to"
You know. When last week I went for "perkampungan ilmu" at my school,
the teacher said , "If you want to go studying overseas, you need an A+ for English.
It's an A+ , not A- neither A.
I don't know whether it is really true. But I just don't want to find the truth.
Well I'm not hoping to study abroad! like the other students might hope
In that case, don't you think it is pertinent to really practise it since very early in the time?

Speaking English needs courages.
Courages to be scolded by people.Courages to feel embarass of speaking out the wrong way.Courages to speak in front of people.
The problem of people arises when they're afraid to speak English because they're afraid of making mistakes so they decided to choose to speak in another language.

You know. Why should we?
Everyone knows . ' We learn from mistakes '
So we aren't supposed to feel embarass if we don't really master in it.
It's okay if you speak in broken English
It's okay rather than those who don't really want to speak in English at all.
I want to tell you something about how I learn speaking English.
1st thing to be marked, I am not from a western yet with English-speaking-cultivated-family.
I am proudly to say. I am a Javanese .
Pure Javanese.
My mom can speak fluently in English. My dad a lil bit. as well as my siblings.
But we never practise to speak English a lot.
But what I do is..
PASSION . INTEREST . LOVE
and whatever words that comes into your mind.

I used to and loved to watch English movies and I'll act alone in front of the mirror in my very own bedroom without anyone seeing or listening to me acting and imitating the way the actor or actress speaks,
I used to watch the info(on astro) of a movie, and will find the meaning of the words I don't know.
The same thing goes on when I watch Aiman Azlan,Anwar Hadi,Adibah Awang's video.
I'll google up any words that I don't know.
And I'm proudly to say that I loved to type "googletranslate" in the google box of my laptop and even my handphone.
Even when writing an article or this blog, I do search the word that I want to use but I don't know what is it supposed to be in English.
I don't feel embarass. This is how I learn man.

For me, watching is better than reading actually.
Because the words and sentences that come out from the videos and the movies are something that you're frequently use in your daily life.
And it is important to mark any word that you never ever heard before
It is important to mark any words that you think are interesting
to put into your essay! (for SPM and PMR students maybe)

And thank God I've improved my speaking and writing after a few things I had in my school that is remarkable in my life such as
Being an emcee once spontaneous
Being speaker of the House in debate competition (not participating.lol)
participating in elocution
Show interests in English classes
Often asking teacher terms that we used to speak in Malay but we don't use in English
And things to share about participating elocution,
I felt like I was zero about making my own text
and what I do is I borrow my friends' text, and not to copy bulat-bulat
But to manipulate their sentences. How I play with the words.
A man once told me.
"english is an art
so the meaning of art itself means that you need to be creative. How you manipulate with the words."

Don't expect for skills first.
It's about how you start and try.
And what is most improtant is,
don't snob when you're able to speak English well.
Because sometimes God will reveal ur mistakes in it.
Really.

I've always wondering to speak English with my friends.
But once,I've been ridiculed and laughed by my friends.
And I felt offended.
And only when being in front of them, I'll stop my mouth from bursting out English words.
(haha.jgn tiru aksi ini.tapapentah)
That's why you need courages actually.
You'll get something after you watch this video.

We cannot shut people up.
We make mistakes --->we learn from it---->we move on . . .

For your information, I've done this topic for my oral test.
And I've expressed everything in front of my teacher.

I'm not urging or forcing or putting bulks of pressure to you about speaking English.
Do only take what you think are valuable from this entry.
I don't ask for anything.
I just ask for may we share our rewards yet up there at jannah.

Thank you Allah for this oppurtunity.

  1. may i speak? english is never an art, language is. as it implements how a race expressing their surroundings, voicing out their inside things (to be frank i meant "emotion", just trying to be poetic i guess hikhok)

so, the more you are involve in strengthen other language skills, the more you should dignify your mother tongue by using it in such different and authentic ways. most of english speakers in our country seem like they're ignorant enough to speak Malay beautifully as the excuse "i express better in english" is used widely among them.

if you express better in english, why don't you ever try to exhibit such in Malay? most of us speak malay brutally as we say that is the slang of our people and yet we keep kissing our long-lost colonial govt language. isn't it unfair?

never thinking to provoke your arguments, but it just a thought our nowadays youth need to ponder. (just if youre thinking im being such judgmental, i actually live in that kind of 'urban family' u mentioned above, and guess what? no, i'm not that proud with my cousins within the range of our age)

    1. Thank you so much 4 ur admonition. to make things clearer, I think we have different opinion on the term 'english is an art'. How I manage to comprehend within the term is, it is when we're writing something like essays I guess. please read the consequence of that term. 'how we manipulate within the words'. Obviously, it is to make sentences better as English is very universal. we're able to mix up the words and proceed into an gratifying term. btw, thank you so much for such thoughts which had actually amazed me :) ..
